There is no single price for a custom club kit, and any supplier who gives you one before seeing your design is guessing. What a kit costs depends on a handful of factors, and understanding them helps your committee budget properly and spot where the savings really are. Here is an honest breakdown of what drives the price.
What you are actually paying for
A finished custom jersey is really a few costs added together:
- The garment and fabric is the largest share, usually a little over half the price. A lightweight performance knit costs more than a basic fabric, and heavier training grades differ again.
- Decoration is the next biggest piece. Full-dye sublimation prints unlimited colour in one process, while tackle twill adds cost for every stitched number and letter.
- Customisation such as player names, numbers, multiple sponsor logos and special finishes each add a little.
- Artwork and proofing to set up and mock up your design is a small part of the total.
- Shipping makes up the rest, and it is the line that hurts most on very small orders because freight is shared across fewer pieces.
Quantity is the biggest lever
Because setup, artwork and freight are spread across the whole order, the more you order, the lower the price per piece. Moving from a handful of units up to a full squad or a whole club can cut the unit price substantially. This is why ordering match kits, training kits and gear together as one club package almost always works out cheaper per item than lots of small separate orders.
Sublimation vs tackle twill on cost
For colourful designs with sponsors and personalisation, full-dye sublimation is usually the more cost-effective route, because extra colours cost nothing per unit. Tackle twill costs more as you add stitched lettering, but gives a premium, traditional look. If you want both, a hybrid kit balances the two. We cover this in detail in our guide to sublimation vs tackle twill.
Why factory-direct is cheaper than a distributor
When you buy through an agent, trading house or reseller, they add their margin on top of the factory price, and that margin can be a large part of what you pay at retail. Order straight from the factory and that margin stays in your club’s budget. You get the same kit at own-factory pricing, with one contact who actually makes it. That is the core of how we keep club kit affordable.
How to get an accurate price
To quote you properly, a manufacturer needs your sport, the pieces you want, rough quantities, your decoration choice and your colours or artwork. With that, you get a real price rather than a guess. Pentathlon makes kit factory-direct from Sialkot with minimums from 25 per design, and we send a mock-up and a quote before you commit.
